Final Phoenix Jersey Revealed!

Every year on the first two days of November, Mexico celebrates the Day of the Dead.

The celebration involves spending time in cemeteries, making shrines for the dead, and displaying colourful, festive skulls all around. It may sound like a sad time, but it is supposed to be very festive and happy, rather than sad and mournful. Death is not seen as the end of one’s life, but as a natural part of the life cycle.

It is generally believed that the souls of one’s family return home to join in the Day of the Dead festivities. Families set up altars (or ofrendas) in their homes, decorated in bright colours, candles, flowers, and with servings of the dead ones’ favourite food and drinks. Typically, the ofrendas contain photographs of the dead and the things that they liked.

In some areas, families go to the graveyard to celebrate through the night. They clean and decorate the graves, sometimes setting up ofrendas on the gravestones, as bells are rung.

So, giddy up Draft Family! This November in Phoenix, we will be celebrating the Day of the Dead too!

The eighth and final team up is The Sombreros!
